Here are some of the moves that Jerry covered on Feb 2
6:30-7:30 class
- Do Paso that broke most squares. Never called again
- Track 2 with mixed genders on the inside and outside tracks
- Track n for n = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4
- Square thru, on 3rd hand touch a quarter
- Zoom and spread (old German call :-))
- Pass corner, star thru, all reverse flutterwheel
- Pass corner, star thru, all flutterwheel
- From static square, everybody veer right, step forward to a thar
- In static square, boys run right
- Wheel and deal from tidal line
- The start formation shown in #10 was created by the following calls starting from two-faced lines
- couples hinge forming a two-faced tidal line
- center couples trade
- center couples reverse wheel around
Jerry noted that the end couples can start their wheel and deal before the center couples complete their wheel around
- After a diagonal pass through you need to adjust to be parallel to walls
- Boys track 2, girls circulate
From lines, 1/2 trade twice is not equivalent to a trade. To see this, click here and drag the thumb halfway (be sure to show dancer numbers by clicking the #8 button). The result is two waves. Finishing the original trade would result in dancers 2 and 1 facing up. However, doing a 1/2 trade from the wave would result in 2 facing up and 1 facing down.
Similarly, split circulate 1 1/2 times twice is not equal to split circulate 3 times.
7:30-9:00
- Diamond circulate from three different kinds of diamonds
- right hand diamonds
- facing diamonds right-hand centers (points have to pass right shoulders)
- point to point diamonds (adjacent points (6, 2) from the two diamonds hold hands)
- Cut the diamond from three different kinds of diamonds
- right hand diamonds
- facing diamonds
- point to point diamonds (adjacent points (6, 2) from the two diamonds hold hands)
- flip the diamond from three different kinds of diamonds
- right hand diamonds
- facing diamonds
- point to point diamonds (adjacent points (6, 2) from the two diamonds hold hands)
- Notes: the women got a lot more practice doing the cuts and flips. In the point-to-point diamonds formation, Jerry had the six dancers in the center trade to place dancers in different diamonds
- Track 2 (focussing on track 0 and track 2)
- Follow your neighbor
- Follow your neighbor and spread
- pass the ocean twice
- There was a confusion on which dancers had to do a centers hinge. Look at this formation. Who are the centers? 1, 5, 7, 3 or just 5, 7? It appears to be the former. Would "very center" be used to refer to just 5 and 7?
